What are the benefits of making a bequest?

How do I make a bequest?

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends or Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs as part of your estate plan. VIEW SAMPLE BEQUEST LANGUAGE BELOW.

What are my options?

A bequest can be made in several ways:

  • You can gift a specific dollar amount or asset.

  • You can gift a percentage of your estate.

  • You can gift from the balance or residue of your estate.

  • You can make a beneficiary designation of certain assets.

A bequest to TLCAD would normally include language like this:

Unrestricted Bequest

I give, devise, and bequeath to Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, Inc., (a) the sum of $___________, or (b) ______% of my estate to be used for the benefit of Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, Inc. as the organization may determine.

Restricted Bequest

I give, devise, and bequeath Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, Inc., (a) the sum of $________ or (b) ______% of my estate to be used for the benefit of Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, Inc. as the organization may determine or (b) for the purpose(s) of _________________________________ or if such use, in the judgment of the organization is or shall become impracticable or unwise, then for such purpose(s) as the organization shall determine.

It also allows us to keep you apprised of new programs or developments that may influence your intention.  If you are designating a specific purpose or establishing an endowment, we will review or provide specific language. If you have not yet designated a purpose, simply complete a letter of intent or gift agreement to document your wishes. We will confidentially keep copies of your documents in our records for future reference.

You can always make a change.

By documenting your intentions, you are in no way entering into a legally binding or irrevocable gift agreement (unless you enter into a binding agreement for specific reasons). You retain the flexibility to change your plans, should your circumstances or priorities change. As a courtesy, we kindly ask that you notify us should you update your plans for TLCAD.

When you document your intentions with TLCAD, the estimated value of your future gift counts toward current fundraising goals and inspires others to follow in your footsteps. Additionally, you may remain anonymous and exclude your name from donor listings, if you prefer.

  • A LETTER OF INTENT

    AND a copy of the following (if available):

  • THE PORTION OF YOUR WILL OR TRUST DOCUMENT REFERENCING THE TENDER LOVING CANINES ASSISTANCE DOGS

    OR

  • DESIGNATION FORM WITH AVAILABLE INFORMATION (PLAN TYPE, NAME OF ACCOUNT OWNER, PLAN ADMINISTRATOR, MOST RECENT MARKET VALUE INFORMATION)

    OR
